Web confinces

On Friday we were exposed to a real example of a Web Confrince. I can deffinently see the potential, however, every technological advance has it's downsides. It's really convienient for businesses to have virtual conferences via webcam. In the past, people were forced to either travel long distances or host conference calls to have conversations many people can participate in. Even so, conference calls are difficult to set up and there are no visual aides, unlike those available with webcams. Obviously, the more traditional face-to-face meetings are the least convenient. Some people actually fly across the country on business trips to this day. However, web cams can be a bit pricey and hard to set up if you aren't familiar with technology. Also, you have to have the appropriate computer and if your processor is too slow, a web cam might be useless. Many people will never adjust to online conferences. In the future, as the technology matures, I figure this generation will become accustomed to online meetings and use that method alot more than the working generation now because they grew up in the age of computers.

  1. Excellent point about technology! Whether it's school, at home or in a job there can be challenges that you don't expect and have to work around.

One of the tough things about webcams versus email too is that you have to be careful about working in your pajamas :).
