PL3A53 R0B M3

I thought Please Rob Me was an interesting website. It consists of an article informing readers about the danger of online 'location-awareness'. I see their point. I imagine robbing must be a significantly more simple job when the criminal knows for sure when the home owner is leaving and where they're going. Online location updates leave a window of time for gutsy criminals to take advantage of. It is said on the website that sites like Twitter and Foursquare are especially hazardous due to the constant status updates most users make. Also, a page on Yahoo discusses Please Rob Me. The bottom line seems to be the same old thing my parents told me when they purchased our first computer; don't post personal information online. I thought it was an interesting point but kind of a no-brainer. Apparently not, though. I assume there must have been enough of incidents involving criminals obtaining housing information through Twitter and other social networking sites and using that to rob homes. I suppose there's no such thing as so-called “common sense” these days. Or maybe people have simply become too comfortable with online networking. Who is to say? Reguardless... it doesn't surprise me that crimes such as these are being committed because of Twitter updates. I can remember my parents telling me to be careful what I post. It's amazing what computer hackers and other criminals can do with a seemingly miniscule personal detail. Some people, I'm sure will continue carelessly networking but those people had better brace themselves.... online crimes are becoming more and more common daily.

What I'm thinking about right now are Bumblebees because Taylor was talking about them earlier. I love fuzzy bees but not hornets or anything. I used to catch them as a kid and put them in glass boxes as pets. I think they are cute and fuzzy.
“Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know it so it goes on flying anyway.”
If you don't like bumblebees you are either crazy or allergic to them :] I stepped on some kind of bee a few months ago and I felt really bad. My foot hurt too. :[ Anyway, that's about it. I'm gonna go listen to Matt and Taylor argue about calling Matt a girl. lol. -Audrey

Blog #5

I read this blog and a few things came to mind... The post was slightly confusing to me. I wasn't exactly sure what this person was getting at when they talk about "someone to be envied by a bunch of hateful frat boys." However, the clip is hilarious but simple, in contrast to some of the raunchy gay jokes that are particularly insulting to homosexuals. In this clip, it's more Kevin's stupidity that makes the joke funny, not necessarily the joke itself.
I agree with the author that this is the proper way to make a gay joke because it's tasteful without being insulting.

Web confinces

On Friday we were exposed to a real example of a Web Confrince. I can deffinently see the potential, however, every technological advance has it's downsides. It's really convienient for businesses to have virtual conferences via webcam. In the past, people were forced to either travel long distances or host conference calls to have conversations many people can participate in. Even so, conference calls are difficult to set up and there are no visual aides, unlike those available with webcams. Obviously, the more traditional face-to-face meetings are the least convenient. Some people actually fly across the country on business trips to this day. However, web cams can be a bit pricey and hard to set up if you aren't familiar with technology. Also, you have to have the appropriate computer and if your processor is too slow, a web cam might be useless. Many people will never adjust to online conferences. In the future, as the technology matures, I figure this generation will become accustomed to online meetings and use that method alot more than the working generation now because they grew up in the age of computers.

This week in Communication class....

I completed the 'Getting started' tasks. I got pretty aggravated because it was very difficult to research and watch podcast when the internet simply refused to cooperate. Afterward Blake, Tony and I started working on our first podcast. I had some trouble finding something worth 'reporting' on so I just settled on the infamous Kanye West VS. Taylor Swift controversy. I'm not entirely sure what the other two chose as their subjects. That's about it, in a nutshell.

Three examples of a podcast

1) Click here to view the 'Miley and Mandy Show'. In this video Miley Cyrus and her best friend, Mandy laugh and yell... loudly. They run/dance around and precede to act like best friends.

2) In this video, self-proclaimed bestfriends, Miley and Mandy allegedly poke fun at fellow Disney channel stars, Demi Lavoto and Selena Gomez. They imply that Demi and Selena have gap teeth, wear too much black and are 'emo'.

3) In this video, Miley and Mandy at first talk about getting up early and sarcastically comment about eachother's hair. Then they talk about Ryan Secrest. Uneventful.
